What is a Graduate Certificate?
A Graduate Certificate is a credit-bearing academic program that provides focused study in high-demand fields. Designed to strengthen professional knowledge with academic theory and expertise, certificates offer a flexible way to advance your career, expand opportunities, or quickly respond to emerging industry needs. Students who complete the program will be awarded a Graduate Certificate by the Office of Graduate Studies.
How to Apply
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution. To apply, submit:
- Online Graduate Certificate Application (Cal Poly Maritime Academy) + $70 fee
- Statement of Purpose (career goals + research interests)
- Resume or CV (education, work, service)
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions*
- For international students: WES evaluation of transcripts + TOEFL (minimum 90 iBT / 240 CBT / 575 PBT) if English is not your native language
*Former Cal Poly Maritime Academy students do not need to resubmit transcripts.
